***BRAND NEW CYCLING TOUR FOR 2022***
Beginning on the shores of the Adriatic in Croatia and taking in Bosnia, Montenegro and Albania this is truly a wild ride of epic proportions.
Covering just over 250 miles in 17 days this should give us ample time to take in fascinating cultural gems such as Mostar and Dubrovnik as well as plenty of time off the bike and in the water!
We have a support vehicle to carry all your camping equipment, luggage and, when the hills get too steep for you, it will carry you at any point as well.
Our cycling trips are aimed at competent riders but you don't need to have done this kind of riding before. We cover a maximum of 50km each day and usually cover less. So don't be afraid to come along and Ride Wild!
£795 including all accommodation*
September 14th - 30th
*excluding flights (approx £120 plus your bike)
We have a limited number of bikes for hire at £10/day or we can arrange to transport your bike overland to the Balkans at cost of £75 for the return trip.
Please note this will mean your bike will be with us for longer than just your booked trip. Contact us for further information
Day 1-4 - Arrival in Split our trip begins on the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic. We plan to stay close to this sea for a while as we hop over to the beautiful island of Hvar.
Hvar is only 60km in length to ride but we believe in taking it easy when we can. So we'll take 2 days here to fit in some paddle boarding or kayaking or simply lazing on the beach here, depending on how fast you can cover 60km of course!
Hvar to Ploce - taking a ferry back onto the mainland we head down the coast to Ploce where we spend a final night on the Coast before heading inland towards Bosnia tomorrow. (Distance 25km)
Ploce to Kravice Waterfalls - These falls are some of the most famous in the Balkans. Stunningly beautiful and definitely worth a dip in after a 35km ride! We'll camp on the edge of the falls so you can have another swim in the morning! Day 6 - Kravice to Blagaj (40km)- the riding will be getting a bit more hilly by now as we head across the border into Bosnia. We're due some more down time and it comes in the form of the fascinating cultural gems of Mostar and Blagaj. We'll stay in peaceful Blagaj on the banks of the river Buna just a 10 minute bus ride from Mostar. Mostar - a day to explore the wonders of this town. Watch the Icarus jumpers diving off the famous rebuilt bridge from where the town takes its name. Learn about this place's history during the war that destroyed it and then relax with a cocktail in any one of the quirky bars that adorn the cobbled streets.
The CIRO Trail - Mostar to Dubrovnik. This is a real highlight for riding. Opened in 2017 this cycling trail takes us all the way back to the coast through an open air museum of Bosnia's past. Off road tracks, small roads and maybe a few hills. We'll be staying in local pensions and hostels along the way until we reach the wonderful coast again and arrive in Dubrovnik 4 days and 100km later.
Dubrovnik - relax, take in the beauty of this incredible Unesco world heritage town. Setting of Game of Thrones and deserving of the throng of visitors that flock here every year just to walk the streets.
13 - Dubrovnik - Igalo 50km down the coast and we cross into Montenegro, the third country to visit on our expanding list of Balkan gems.
We'll ease in gently and spend the night on the coast as tomorrow we may have some climbing to do.
14 - Igalo to Kotor (40km)- This route is truly stunning taking in the magical bay of Kotor but it is steep in parts. Don't worry though that's why we have back up. Feel free to jump in the van for a ride up the hilly parts. The view from the top is the same either way - breath taking.
Lovcen National Park - the final part of our epic journey takes us through one of Montenegro's most beautiful national parks. Winding country roads (translation: 25 hairpin bends!!) and as much local produce as you can eat and drink will keep you going through this magical scenery until our route takes us down again towards the coast and into Lake Shkodra National Park.
A brief drive over the bridge of Lake Shkodra itself and we are into Albania. Finishing our great adventure at the Lake Shkodra Resort where authentic food is in abundance, a warm welcome is assured and a cocktail (or two) by the water's edge is highly recommended. One of the best camp/glamp sites in Europe this is the perfect place to finish our journey.
