imperial Cities

Dates on request - runs all year round

Experience all of Morocco's imperial cities from the romantic lights of Rick's cafe in Casablanca ('Play it again Sam') to  the vibrant chaos of Marrakech. The quiet splendor of  Rabat through to the hidden gem of Meknes and the historical wonder of Fez. If you are  true culture vulture then this one has it all.

Itinerary

 Day 1: Casablanca

Upon arrival in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco, you will be meet and taken to  your Casablanca hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you will visit the city, including an  optional visit to the spectacular Hassan II Mosque…..one of the world’s biggest mosques and  one of only a very few in Morocco where non-Muslims are able to enter. Overnight in: Casablanca.

Day 2: Casablanca - Rabat – Meknes – Fes

Today we will visit three of Morocco’s four imperial cities. After eating breakfast, we will leave for Fes. On route, we will stop at Rabat, the capital city  and residence of the King, for lunch and some time to enjoy this beautiful coastal city.  After lunch we will continue on to the old imperial city of Meknes which dates back to the  11th century.  By late afternoon we will reach Fes, the spiritual capital of Morocco…..Fes with its ancient  dark and narrow, winding alleyways which conjure up all sorts of mystery and intrigue! Overnight in: Fes.

 Day 3: Fes

After enjoying your breakfast we will begin our guided tour of the Fes medina (the old city of  Fes); one of the world’s largest intact walled cities – and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  You will explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit stalls, mounds of spices, intricately  woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco.  A visit to the King’s Palace, the tanneries, and the potters are just a few of the places on our  itinerary that will provide unforgettable experiences – so be sure to have your cameras ready  as there will be plenty of magnificent photo opportunities ! For lunch you will have the opportunity to eat in a traditional Moroccan restaurant in the  heart of the medina.  After lunch we will continue the tour and return to the hotel for the evening.  Overnight in: Fes.

Day 4: Fes - Marrakech

After an early breakfast, we will depart Fes for the fourth Imperial city on our itinerary - Marrakech.  Have your cameras ready as this beautiful drive with spectacular scenery will take you up  into the Middle Atlas Mountains and along the base of the High Atlas Mountains. Once in Marrakech, you will check into your hotel and then head off to Place Jemaa el-Fna,  the central square of the medina – in the old part of Marrakech.  The famous Place Jemaa el-Fna, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most  popular places to visit in Marrakech.  Coming alive at night with local storytellers, entertainers, and mouth-watering barbeque pits,  the square is well worth the visit.  A quiet cup of tea on the terrace of an adjacent cafe provides a spectacular aerial view of the  bustling square.  Overnight in: Marrakech.

Day 5: Marrakech

After breakfast on our last day together, you will have a guided tour of Marrakech, the  southern pearl of Morocco as it is known.  You will discover the Palace of the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, and many other hidden  treasures. You will also take in the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and marvel at the architectural  marvel that it is (non-Muslims are not permitted to enter the mosque) and spend some time  wandering through the souq adjacent to the famous Place Jemaa El-Fna. Tonight our final  dinner together and say good bye… Overnight in: Marrakech.
